Homeward Bound

1 min read
Hello People,

Well finally my project Homeward Bound is finished. Here are some photos of the final days of creation and installation. I hope you enjoy.
They are located at 50 wheatsheaf rd glenroy, vic

The concept behind this project was to bring together 2 really important things in my life. One the multicultural community that I live in and also the indigenous birds local to my area. By making laser cut sculptures of birds I designed each of the surfaces to have a pattern from one of the cultures with in my community. I hope you enjoy

Ps I have one spare bird if anyone is interested in it

Hello everyone,

I have an exhibition in a few weeks at a gallery in Northcote Melbourne. Here is the media Release:

Chisel & Brush

An exhibition featuring Igmus (Brett Davies) & Leith Walton

Two local artists blessed with a gift for manipulating the simple aesthetic of the natural world are combining their powers of imagination to present a joint exhibition "Chisel & Brush" from 25th – 30th October at Synergy Gallery, Northcote.

It's woodcarver, Igmus (Brett Davies), meets painter, Leith Walton, in a show that draws together the work of artists whose creations traverse an otherwordly sphere at the edge of the subconscious, while remaining grounded in the place we inhabit.

The woodcarvings of Igmus (Brett Davies) resonate with a primal power that reflect the artists' deep affinity with the bush. Igmus achieves balance in his sculptures through the initial phase of carving with a chainsaw followed by a more detailed and deliberate working of the wood. The result is an organic collection of powerful pieces that reverberate with tales from the natural world.

Adopting a more dreamlike approach, Leith Walton deftly captures the whimsical nature of the interior landscape in his paintings. Walton's creations reflect childlike worlds, brimming with effortless beauty, that invite you back to a place where fantasy and the simplicity of everyday life coalesce.

"Chisel & Brush" offers an insight into the workings of two different artists drawn together by their mutual appreciation of nature's garden of delights and the motion of imagination.

"Chisel & Brush" runs from
25th – 30th October at Synergy Gallery, 253 High Street, Northcote.
The unveiling will take place on Tuesday 25th October at 6.34pm.

A new dawn has begun,

I new studio in a new house perched up on a hill in the fair suburb of Prestonia. Never before have I had this much room! I can have my easel set up in one corner and everything else all around the room! One of my friends also built me a new easel and a special tailor made table to sit next to it! Soon Ill be posting a series of photos of studios from artists around me.

Over the past few months ive been painting alot of tea Genies (Djinn) and other modern mythical creatures. At the moment im working on a steam punk painting of a robotic snail and a Tea Djinn performing a ritual of steam.

May you have a lovely day and thank you for reading this.

Leith
